About RealVoltageDropCalculator

RealVoltageDropCalculator was built with a single purpose: to provide electrical engineers, electricians, and students with a fast, accurate, and incredibly easy-to-use tool for calculating voltage drop in electrical circuits.

Our Mission

We believe that fundamental engineering tools should be accessible to everyone, beautifully designed, and work flawlessly on any device. Too many calculators out there are cluttered, hard to use on mobile, or hidden behind paywalls. We're changing that.

The Math Behind the Tool

Our calculations are based on standard electrical formulas:

  • Single Phase: Voltage Drop = 2 × Current × (Resistivity × Length / Area)
  • Three Phase: Voltage Drop = √3 × Current × (Resistivity × Length / Area)

We use industry-standard resistivity values at 20°C: 0.0175 Ω·mm²/m for Copper and 0.0282 Ω·mm²/m for Aluminium.

Disclaimer

While we strive for perfect accuracy, the results provided by this calculator are estimates for educational and planning purposes only. Real-world conditions like temperature, installation method, and power factor will affect the actual voltage drop. Always consult your local electrical codes (such as NEC or BS 7671) and a qualified engineer before finalizing any design.
